I got engravelab with my laser in a package deal, and so far all I have used is Corel. I think that at this point it makes sense to pass on EngraveLab until I find that it does something that I can’t do without. If anyone wants further information on barcoding, I would be happy to share my painfully learned experience.

Corel is our choice for graphics etc., but we used industrial standard barcode software for our plates. This might not be a problem for someone with a repeating barcode, but we need serialiazed barcodes with no repeats. The next time you want to do another table, you have to manually change out the barcode. You can do one design with a barcode on it, then do an array layout, but you are limited by how many you can fit on your table. The Engravelab (relabeled LaserPro from signwarehouse) does do barcodes, but is very limited.

We do serial plates that have barcodes on them. Its functionality also seems superior to much of what I’ve run across lately. By the way, I really like the look of your website. I played with the EngraveLab demo a bit and wasn’t impressed.

As far as the bar coding, I don’t use it and maybe someone else that does could better answer that question.Hope you the best of success, Oh, remember it doesn’t matter if your drive the Hummer or the Chevette, its how much you want to spend to go from place to place. You will definitely want it! For the cost difference between the two I would use the money you’re saving and beef up your clipart gallery, or buy practice material. We went almost 6 months after opening without photograv. We use corel Draw w/ photograv and we are doing just fine. Well, I can’t speak for everyone else, but my opinion is skip the Engravelab. Is everyone getting by just fine without EngraveLab? Prior to this, I was leaning towards the Corel Draw/PhotoGrav combo.

The real question to anyone with any first or even second hand knowledge, does EngraveLab even come close to making the process as easy as they make it sound? In addition to all the bells and whistles, EngraveLab seems to offer a serialization feature and more barcoding formats than Corel Draw.

It looks to be quite a full featured package, which is appealing since I plan on trying to dabble in a number of markets (industrial, retail, promotional) to get myself established. This board does not offer control of power through software - we recommend upgrading the board to take full advantage of LightBurn. In moving closer to ordering a system, I received a quote from Jorlink that includes EngraveLab software. Please note that LightBurn does not support the stock M2-Nano board in the popular K40 laser. If it doesn't work, sometimes it only takes a day or two to make the required changes to support a new board in these existing families.

If your controller is GCode, Ruida, Trocen, or TopWisdom based, even if it's not listed it might be supported already - Download the free trial and try it for yourself. More controllers will be added soon, so if you don't see yours listed, send us a message - maybe we're already working on it! Supported Trocen controllers include the AWC708C, AWC608, and TL-3120. Supported Ruida controllers include the RDC6442G/S, RDC6445G, RDC6332G, RDLC-320A, and R5-DSP. Supported GCode controllers, include Grbl, Smoothieware, Grbl-LPC, and Marlin. We currently support most Ruida, Trocen, TopWisdom, and GCode based controllers. LightBurn talks directly to your laser, without the use of additional software.
